Close to a million devotees attended the Statio Orbis, the closing mass of the 51st International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) on Sunday afternoon.

City Councilor Dave Tumulak, head of the Cebu City command center, said 907,641 people occupied 15.1 hectares of the 26-hectare Pedro Calungsod Template at the South Road Properties.

A majority of the attendees occupied the back portion of the templete going to the area near the SM Seaside City Cebu.

The police didn’t receive report of any untoward incident except for some minor medical emergencies.

Senior Supt. Benjamin Santos, acting Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) and ground commander of the event, said some people experienced dizziness, stomach aches and minor injuries that were immediately responded to by medical personnel.

Sixteen medical posts were spread all over the site by the Department of Health (DOH).

The sun also showed up on Sunday afternoon although there was a threat of rain when it drizzled in the morning.

A portion of the site was muddy due to the incessant rains from Monday to Wednesday.

Tarpaulins were laid down to cover some area while gravel was also used to fill some pools of water.
