Lover went on shooting rampage

A woman, who felt spurned by her female lover, went on a shooting rampage and killed her partner’s mother and brother and wounded another brother before she was killed by responding policemen in Calape town, Bohol on Wednesday night.

Authorities were now looking for PO1 Rosalie Cuario, the girlfriend of Maricel Ramos who was assigned in Cebu as part of the augmentation troops for the Sinulog festivities and the 51st International Eucharistic Congress (IEC).

Ramos, 39, reportedly got mad when Cuario, 33, did not return to their rented house in Barangay Liboron, Calape town following a heated argument.

Calape police investigator Angelo Namang said Ramos got desperate after she could no longer contact the policewoman.

She also suspected that Cuario had another lover, he added.

Ramos went to the house of Cuario’s family in Barangay Ulbujan, Calape to ask about the policewoman’s whereabouts. But no one among Cuario’s family could tell her where the policewoman was.

Ramos returned to the house of the Cuarios about 6 p.m. on Wednesday to ask about her.

She saw Cuario’s elder brother, Vicente, 51 and asked him where his sister was.

Namang said Vicente told Ramos that they had no idea where his sister was because the policewoman had stopped visiting them following a dispute in the family.

But Ramos apparently did not believe Vicente.

She pulled out a gun and shot him in the right hand but the bullet went through his right chest.

Ramos then barged inside the house of the Cuario family and shot another brother, Joel, 46, in the face. Joel’s wife and children managed to run outside the house.

Rosita Cuario, mother of the Cuario siblings, ran toward the room but Ramos chased her and shot her in the forehead.

When the policemen arrived, both Rosita and Joel were already dead. Joel’s body was found in the living room while Rosita was inside her room.

Namang said they searched for Ramos whom they found outside her house in Barangay Ulbujan, still holding her 9mm pistol.

Namang said they told her to surrender, but the suspect instead pointed the gun at her head.

He said they tried to get near Ramos but she shot them, forcing the policemen to return fire.

Ramos was hit twice in the head.

Namang said they found messages in Ramos’ cellphone and in a white paper that showed her resentment on Cuario’s alleged affair with another person.

One message read that Ramos begged Cuario to come home so they could fix their problem.

She also recalled their 11-year relationship that started when Cuario was in college.

The suspect reportedly helped Cuario to complete her degree in education at a local university in Calape.

Although she had a teacher’s license, Cuario joined the Philippine National Police in 2011.

Namang said Cuario was assigned to Calape on November 16 but was sent to Cebu City to help secure the recently concluded Sinulog and 51st IEC
