CEBUANO jins will be looking to land spots in the National Pool when they compete in the National Pool Selection Tournament on Sunday at the Cuneta Astrodome.
Tomorrow, Cebuano kyurogi (sparring) and poomsae jins will start leaving for Manila for the tournament, which gives them a chance to be a part of the four-man Philippine Team that will vie for slots to the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics.
The Rio 2016 Asian qualifiers will be on April this year and will be participated by powerhouse nations like China, Thailand, and Iran.
“We will start leaving tomorrow in batches with the last group leaving Saturday morning.” Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA) Region 7 Director Tony del Prado told Cebu Daily News.
Del Prado will lead the Cebuano team at the nation’s capital alongside University of Cebu coach Michael Realista for sparring and University of San Carlos mentor Glenn Lava for poomsae.
It won’t be a walk in the park for the Cebuanos as they have to overcome solid fellow National Training Pool qualifiers from the National Capital Region, Baguio, Bacolod, and Pampanga.
After the National Selection Tournament, the jins will return to Cebu for the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet in Naga City.
