Ungab’s wife pleads not guilty to case of hitting lawyer with bat

THE wife of Vice Mayor Jonah John Ungab of Ronda town on Wednesday pleaded “not guilty” to accusations of hitting a female lawyer with a baseball bat out of jealousy.

Pearl Ungab was arraigned on charges of slight physical injuries before Judge  Grace Veloso-Fernandez of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities.

She was assisted by her lawyer Arlan Richard Alvarez.

After the arraignment, the judge referred the case to court-annexed mediation to give the parties the opportunity to settle their differences.

Pearl and lawyer Jiecel Tiu figured in a verbal confrontation in the parking lot of Centro Maximo where the lady lawyer holds office. The wife suspected Tiu of having an affair with her husband, Vice Mayor Ungab — an accusation which the lawyer denied.

Tiu accused Mrs. Ungab of chasing and ramming her car before hitting her with a baseball bat in Barangay Cogon Ramos last Feb. 26, 2015.
