Cebuano tennis phenom Norman Joseph Enriquez let it all hang out on the court as he made it to the semifinals after a 6-0, 6-1 win over fellow Cebuano Paul Helarry Coderos in the 18-U singles competition of the Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala (PPS-PEPP) regional tennis circuit yesterday at Consolacion Tennis Club in Laray, Cebu.
The 17-year old Enriquez dictated the offense all-game long as he asserted his scoring dominance in the opening set by blanking the 14-year-old Coderos, 6-0, before finishing off the game with a 6-1 triumph.
Enriquez is set to the battle the winner of the Frank Paul Actub-Royen Cabunillas match, which was being played as of press time.
In the distaff side, La Carlota’s Kiana De Asis and Zamboanga’s Sydney Ezra Enriquez broke the hearts of the home fans after they beat their Cebuana counterparts to set up a semifinals showdown in the 14-under girls division.
Top-seed Sydney Enriquez lived up to her lofty billing after she ruled over Labangon, Cebu’s Angelika Katrina Claridad, 6-0, 6-0, while De Asis outclassed Angela Laborte 6-0, 6-0.
