CEBU’S sixth district remains solid behind Liberal Party (LP) standard-bearer Mar Roxas despite the departure of some key allies who support different candidates.
In yesterday’s 888 News Forum, Rep. Luigi Quisumbing of Cebu’s 6th district said their network remains strong even with Cordova Mayor Adelino Sitoy throwing his support behind Davao City Mayor and presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte.
“I understand that Mayor Sitoy is a close friend of Mayor Duterte. Just like in the fifth district, I also understand that Rep. Ace Durano campaigns for Sen. Grace Poe because they are friends. Those are personal decisions,” he said.
For him, Cebu province has discerning voters.
“Cebuanos do not vote based on popularity and propaganda but on the strength of the candidate’s platform,” he said.
While he admitted that his family is related to the Romualdezes, he supports LP’s vice presidential candidate Leni Robredo.
“I have worked with her (Leni) in Congress. She deeply studies and speaks on issues articulately. She is qualified,” Quisumbing said.
Quisumbing also brushed aside accusations that he is not a Mandaue City native, saying his family has been in business in the city for years and that a person can be a “Mandauehanon by birth and choice.”
