Six centenarians will be recognized by the Cebu City government and will be given P100,000 each.
During the City Council’s regular session yesterday, they approved a resolution authored by Councilor Lea Japson to use P600,000 of the City Sponsored Activities Account of City Hall for the award and cash incentives for the seniors.
“The cash award is a financial assistance to the centenarians to support in the purchase of their maintenance medicine and other provisions regarding their health,” read the resolution authored by Japson.
The centenarians are Filomena Tariman of Barangay Pit-os, Genara Bacolod of Barangay Labangon, Leodegaria Tabal of Barangay Bonbon, Graciana Adlawan of Barangay Pung-ol Sibugay, Mercedes Franco of Barangay Capitol Site and Nicano Labao of Barangay Basak San Nicolas.
They are exactly 100 years old based on documents they submitted to the city for verification including barangay certifications, among others.
They will be given a plaque during the city’s Charter Day Celebration, on the 24th of this month and the incentives will be received in October during the city’s celebration of the Senior Citizens’ Month.
The giving of cash incentives to senior citizens who reach 100 years old is covered by the ordinance conferring the centenary senior citizens’ award to qualified senior citizens in October of each year.
