The former treasurer of Barangay Tangke in Talisay City is facing trial for failure to account government funds amounting to P728,382, and for signing checks without the necessary supporting documents from 2008 to 2010.
The Office of the Ombudsman in the Visayas found sufficient basis to indict Angelita Delima on charges of malversation of public funds and for violating the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
Graft investigation and prosecution officer Darius Sagadal said Delima “intentionally” violated the laws and that her acts caused “undue injury” to the government.
Although Delima expressed intention to return the amount, Sagadal said the respondent still has to face trial.
