Nominations open for retailers’ award

The  Philippine Retailers’ Association Cebu chapter (PRA Cebu)has opened the nominations for the Outstanding Filipino Retailers Award (OFR) 2016.

The award aims to: recognize Cebuano retailers who are successful in terms of growth in business and good ethical practice; and encourage retailers to become more competitive and adopt world class standards.

“We are encouraging many (retailers) to join. We are trying to help retailers to be more competitive and to grow in size,” said PRA Cebu president Robert Go.

Six categories are identified for the OFR award, namely fashion retailers; home improvement and DIY; cellphones, gadgets and information, and communications technology; food retail; advertising, books, recreational and printing services; and health and wellness retail.

The six winners, who will be identified by June 2016, will be sent to Manila for the national OFR awards.

Go said any Cebu-based retailer who has been operating for three years can be nominated. They also have to be registered with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) or Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).

To endorse a retail business, nominators have to fill up the PRA’s official nomination form, which is available at the PRA office.
