CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama has ordered City Treasurer Diwa Cuevas to publish all donations the city received for the construction of the new Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC).
This after former mayor Tomas Osmeña demanded that the city should account for all the money it received from the fundraising for the new hospital.
Rama said yesterday that they can account for the P18 million generated from the “Piso Mo, Hospital Ko”.
“I never stole. Nothing ended in her pocket. Nothing ended in my pocket,” Rama said in a press conference yesterday at Hotel Elizabeth.
Rama added he always gives full accounting of his projects.
Rama launched the “Piso Mo, Hospital Ko” fundraising campaign last year after the public hospital was closed due to the damage it sustained after the 7.2-magnitude earthquake in October 2013.
Rama also said that the P900 million in pledges which he raised from Filipino communities in the United States remain as such with no cash conveyed to the city.
Rama said those who pledged are waiting for the structure to start rising at the project site before they will give the city their counterpart.
“Soon when the building will rise, they (pledgers) will come to the city and be proud of it,” he said.
