Streak continues for Southchoice

TWO-TIME defending champion Batch 1999/Southchoice Inc. continued its remarkable run, gobbling up its 40th straight victory dating back to the last two seasons following a 90-74 trampling of the CEC-C/ATS Aljhune Tinsmith/NST Rubbers last Thursday in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association (Cecaba) 15th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the CEC Gym.

Unbeaten for more than two seasons now and going up 3-0 (win-loss) in the ongoing tournament, Batch ‘99 was once again led by the hulking Mark Bukiron, who scattered a game-high 30 points.

As usual, it wasn’t a one-man show for the defending champions with Albert Uy firing 14 points and Earn Saguindel and Alvin Balila chipping in 13 markers each.

Kevin Mamac netted 25 points, Rodney Co tallied 18, Mar Genesis Quisagan scored 15 and John Palanca Avalon pumped in 10 markers in a losing cause as CEC-C tasted its third defeat in four games.

Also scoring a big win was CEC-E as it downed erstwhile unbeaten Batch 1995/New Millennium Hardware, 71-61.

Cedric Chua collected 13 points, Wilby Tan wound up with 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Ryan Maderazo had 10 markers in CEC-E’s third victory against a single defeat.

Vincent Sy also had a solid contribution for CEC-E with his 11 rebounds and seven markers.
