EARN Saguindel recorded the season’s first triple-double to power the unstoppable Batch 1999/Southchoice Inc. to an 81-68 triumph over CEC-B/PTT/Roadstar last Saturday in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association (Cecaba) 15th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the CEC Gym.
Saguindel, the former University of the East Red Warrior, put up 10 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and one steal, making his presence felt all over the floor to key Batch ‘99’s fourth win in as many games that catapulted them on top of the team standings.
Mark Bukiron was again solid, piling up 36 markers and 11 rebounds, while Albert Uy added 14 points as Batch ‘99 padded its amazing winning streak to 41 dating back to the past two seasons.
Rex Allinson scored 14 markers and Shaun Wang had 12 for CEC-B, which dropped to 2-2 (win-loss).
In the other game, CEC-A/ACY Shipping/Koi Herbal sailed to third victory in four outings after it tripped Batch 2009, 65-58.
Gino Abella led the way for CEC-A with 16 points, while Raymark Ong, Samuel Sia and Paul Cabellon added 15, 13 and 11 markers, respectively.
Harold James Tan came away with 25 points and 13 rebounds for Batch 2009, which crashed to third defeat against a single win.
