Jr NBA returns to Cebu

THE JR. NBA and the Jr. WNBA Philippines will make its way down south to Cebu as it stages the Coaching Clinic and the Regional Selection Camp this weekend at the Don Bosco Technology Center gym in Labangon.

The coaching clinic will be a treat for local coaches as it is expected to be led by a Jr. NBA coach who will be discussing the latest basketball drills and advanced training techniques. Also on tap for the coaching seminar are skills development and team training sessions.

The event kicks off on Friday registration starting at 5 p.m. The coaching clinic itself will start at 6 p.m. and will last until 9 p.m.

Meanwhile, the weekend’s highlight will be the Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA Regional Selection Camp, which will gather the region’s best young basketball players in a test of basketball skills and will to determine who will advance to the National Training Camp which will be held in Manila.

The camp will focus on looking for players that display basketball potential while also exhibiting the Jr. NBA S.T.A.R. values – Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Attitude, Respect.

The participants will be tested via an intense series of skills stations and practical drills, after which a cut will be made to determine who will advance to the second day of the camp.

From there, only the best of the best will earn an all-expense paid trip to the national training camp on April, where they will be trained by a Jr. NBA coach, an NBA player and a WNBA legend.

The regional selection camp will be on Saturday with registration starting at 7 a.m. The camp will promptly start at 9 a.m. and will last until 4 p.m.
