Tourist visits in provinces in Central Visayas reached 4.5 million last year, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said Tuesday.
DOT regional director Rowena Montecillo said tourism arrivals even exceeded their 4.4 million projection by about 10 percent during the year.
“The Department of Tourism is pleased to announce that Central Visayas has exceeded its target on Regional Distribution of Travelers (Tourist Arrivals) for the year 2015,” Montecillo said in a message which she posted on Facebook page.
Tourists visits were spread in the provinces of Bohol, Negros Oriental, Siquijor and Cebu, she said.
“We would like to thank the very supportive accommodation (of) establishments for the submission of monthly data as well as the Tourism Officer who actively assisted the Regional Office in the collection of such data,” Montecillo said.
