Wilkerson catches fire anew, powers SMB over Blackwater

TYLER Wilkerson displayed another brilliant offensive show to lead the San Miguel Beermen to a 108-96 win over the the Blackwater Elite yesterday in the 41st PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

Coming off a 52-point explosion in their 120-109 domination of the GlobalPort Batang Pier, Wilkerson torched Blackwater for 35 points while also adding 17 rebounds and four blocked shots.

The Beermen improved to 2-1 (win-loss), winning their last two games after starting the mid-season conference with a 96-102 loss to the Mahindra Enforcers.

Cebuano center June Mar Fajardo also made his presence felt for the Beermen with his 20 points and seven rebounds.

Blackwater succumbed to its second straight defeat to drop to 2-3.

The Elite played without Mike Cortez and Jerick Cañada and failed to get the needed production from import MJ Rhett, who just managed 12 points on a paltry four-of-12 shooting from the field.

Rhett also had 14 boards, three assists, and one block but committed five turnovers.
