Dog ‘helps’ uncover Argao crime

Had it not been for a dog, the disappearance of a 28-year-old woman four months ago would have remained a mystery.

The remains of Monaliza Posadas were dug up by a dog around 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

The body was stuffed in a nylon sack and buried about 50 meters from the couple’s rented house in Barangay Talagaw, Argao town, southern Cebu.

Police later arrested  the victim’s live-in partner Warly Lanutan Mier, a security guard, for her death.

Mier, who expressed remorse for the incident, admitted to killing the woman.

Police have filed a murder case against Mier.

Police said some residents saw the dog digging a hole outside the couple’s place.

Nabur Albeos, a resident, checked on what the dog was digging and later saw a sack which was buried at about two feet deep.

Mier said he and his partner fought around 11 p.m. on Nov. 11, 2015.

He said the woman suspected him of having an affair with another woman.

During the argument, the woman threatened to leave the house.

Mier said he lost his cool and choked her.
