Cebu City attacks: cabbie killed; guard shot dead

A taxi driver and a security guard were killed in separate incidents in Cebu City in the past two days.

Petie del Rosario, 43, died after he was struck in the head with a metal pipe allegedly by his drinking buddy last Friday afternoon in Sitio Season, Barangay Cogon Pardo, Cebu City.

Police said witnesses identified Del Rosario’s attacker as Juan Gonzaga, who lives in the area.

Police investigation indicated that Del Rosario was having a drinking session with Gonzaga when they started arguing.

The two continued arguing even as they finished their drinking session and headed home.

But then  Gonzaga came at Del Rosario with a steel pipe in his hand.

Gonzaga caught up with the fleeing Del Rosario and according to a witness struck Del Rosario at the back of his head.

A bloodied  Del Rosario fell to the ground after which Gonzaga fled upon seeing  the extent of Del Rosario’s injury.

Residents in the area rushed Del Rosario to the hospital but doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Police are still looking for Gonzaga, who remains at large.
