THE BARANGAY Ginebra Kings and the Alaska Aces try to keep their streaks going when they face off in the main game of today’s 41st PBA Commissioner’s Cup action at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Kings and the Aces are two of the hottest teams in the league right now as both squads have won their last three games.
Also on a roll are the San Miguel Beermen, who are likewise on a three-game winning streak.
Alaska and San Miguel are tied at second place with 3-1 (win-loss) records, followed by Ginebra, which sports a 3-2 ledger.
Leading the standings are the Meralco Bolts, who are off to a 5-1 start.
Alaska has yet to lose with import Shane Edwards in tow. Edwards was brought in to temporarily fill the void vacated by Rob Dozier, who is sidelined by a foot injury.
In Alaska’s last win versus the Phoenix Fuel Masters, Edwards was his usual productive self, finishing with 33 points and 16 rebounds.
Edwards will be tested by Ginebra’s own prolific import Othyus Jeffers.
Jeffers was also superb when the Kings whipped the Mahindra Enforcers, 104-86, last Wednesday.
Jeffers flirted with triple-double in that game with his 24 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists.
In the opening game, the Fuel Masters and the Enforcers collide with both squads looking to regain their rhythm.
Mahindra sports the same record with Ginebra, while Phoenix is at the bottom of the standings with a 1-3 record.
The Fuel Masters dropped their last three games after opening the tournament with a 118-106 win over the NLEX Road Warriors.
