VICE Gov. Agnes Magpale said the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office will provide a list of beneficiaries for the “Halad Alang Kang Lola og Lola” program as requested by rival One Cebu party.
One Cebu’s lawyer Mel Abnir Amadora asked for a complete list of the program beneficiaries after the party received reports that the goods given to the elderly were part of the donated goods intended for victims of Supertyphoon Yolanda.
The vice governor said the program is a continuing service of the PSWDO in which food packs containing canned goods and three kilos of rice are distributed to senior citizens in various towns of the province.
Magpale said each barangay will submit a list of senior citizens in their area and the PSWDO verifies the list to avoid duplications. She said they set aside P15 million for the program this year.
The vice governor said 10,364 senior citizens received aid from January to June last year.
Magpale said they will consider giving cash allowance instead of food packs in the future but have yet to determine the exact amount for beneficiaries.
