Four houses were totally razed while one house was only partially damaged by the fire that hit Sitio Tiago, Barangay San Isidro, Talisay City at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
SFO4 Rudyard Abellanosa of the Talisay City Fire Department said the fire started at the house of 59-year-old Hermogilna Rabaya, who was washing clothes at the time.
Abellanosa said Rabaya went inside her house and saw that a portion of it was already on fire.
Rabaya shouted for help while the fire immediately ate up the adjacent house of 66-year-old Leonora Villagonzalo.
Villagonzalo is the owner of three other houses that was totally razed by the fire and another house that was only partially damaged.
Villagonzalo had these four houses rented.
Chief Supt. Randy Mendaros, Talisay City fire marshal, said it took them 15 minutes to put out the fire on the houses that were made of light materials.
Damages were estimated at P100,000.
Fire investigators are looking at electrical misuse as the cause of fire.
“Nakatampo gyud nga dali nikatap ang kayo mao ang grabe nga kainit sa panahon. Angay nga dili magkumpyansa ang tanang katawhan karong panahona (The hot weather also caused the fire to spread to the four houses. People should not be complacent and take precaution),” Mendaros said.
