Don Bosco topples Ateneo de Cebu for Cebu Liga crown

DESPITE having to worry about their finals exams coming this week, players from the vaunted Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) Team A managed to still defeat archrival Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC), 3-0, and clinch the title in the first leg of the Cebu Liga 2002 at the PAREF Springdale football field.

Head coach Glenn Ramos said the entire Don Bosco team made a lot of sacrifices prior to the championship match yesterday since his boys had to study for their finals exams and at the same time prepare for their showdown against the Magis Eagles.

“I encouraged the boys to take on the challenge of having a championship match and an exam. Good thing they were able to conquer it because it’s very difficult to balance time for study and training,” said Ramos.

DBTC’s Luis Buyco won  the Golden Boot award for making two goals in the game.

All in all, Buyco finished his campaign with DBTC with a total of five goals. Teammate Josh Asignar and SHS-AdC’s Ethan Deller scored the same number of goals to also receive the same award.

Don Bosco Boys Home of Liloan town, north Cebu staged an upset when they defeated the host team PAREF Springdale, 4-5, in a shootout to clinch third-place honors.
