Classes suspended at Mandaue City high school; students display erratic behavior

THE Jagobiao National High School in Mandaue City suspended its classes at past 9 a.m. Tuesday after some of their students displayed erratic behavior.

School principal Rufino Tudlasan said the incident started at past 8 a.m. when two female students of Grade 7 had difficulty breathing and were crying.

After few minutes, other students in the class and those from Grade 8 and 9 also showed similar behavior, which were described by some witnesses as indicative of “spirit possession.”

A mother posted in her FB page that at least 22 students including her daughter behaved erratically.

But Tudlasan said they can not say that the students were possessed but they are still investigating the incident.

He also clarified that there were less than 10 students that were seen behaving this way.

The students were calmed down at the principal’s office and were brought home by parents.

Tudlasan said he decided to suspend the classes at past 9 a.m. to prevent other students from being influenced by the affected students.
