Students of San Jose Elementary and High School in Mabini, Bohol no longer have to walk more than a kilometer to the national highway to do research for their assignments and projects.
Last Feb. 24, AboitizPower, through the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. and Bohol Electric Cooperative II (Boheco II), turned over 10 computer sets, one desk jet printer and 10 tables and chairs to San Jose Elementary and High School, the first recipient of its computer donation project in Bohol.
San Jose Elementary and High School is located more than 15 kilometers from the town proper.
Maricel Selmaro, teacher in charge, shed tears during the ceremonial turnover. “These are tears of joy. We are blessed to be chosen as beneficiary,” she said.
Tito Andamon, Boheco II institutional services department manager, explained that the school was chosen as beneficiary because of its remoteness.
Roy Renconada, AboitizPower energy sales senior account officer for the Visayas, said the group will continue to support Boheco II’s computer donation project.
Daryl James Busbus, student council president, said the computers will be of great help to the students who could not afford the P15 bus fare in going to Poblacion to rent a computer in an Internet cafe.
The computers are equipped with Windows operating system and encyclopedia, among others.
