South Bus prepares for commuters: Security boosted; tents, toilets added

THE management of the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) has added more security guards, tents and portable toilets as part of the preparations for  the thousands of passengers expected to go home to the southern part of the province for the observance of the Holy Week.

Eddie Dusaban, CSBT assistant operations manager, said yesterday that they are expecting more than 100,000 passengers at the terminal between Wednesday afternoon and Friday morning this week.

Dusaban said they are expecting 60,000 of these commuters to be at the terminal on Thursday.

“At present, we are around 90 percent ready,” he said.

He said they are expecting 90 more guards to augment the existing 31 security guards for the terminal for the week.

The Capitol Civil Service Unit will also send 10 police personnel to secure the commuters.

Aside from the increase in security guards, the CSBT management is also putting up nine more tents to add to the 14 tents already set up in the terminal for the commuters.

Five of the nine additional tents will be set up on Monday at the back of the terminal, which will serve as a pre-departure area for the passengers.

The four other additional tents will be set up at the departure area.

Aside from the tents, the terminal management also ordered four more portable toilets to be placed at strategic areas at the terminal for the convenience of the commuters.

Dusaban, however, said that they are still waiting for the toilets to arrive.
