Poe says she showed her ‘fiesty’ side

Senator Grace Poe believed she has shown her ‘feisty’ side during the second leg of the presidential debate held at the University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu this evening.

In an interview after the debate, Poe said she just showed that “if you need to fight, one should fight.”

“Dapat palagi makita natin kung kailangan lumaban, lumaban. Kung tamang pinaglaban, lalaban. Hidi naman sa pagyayabang, kung hindi para depensahan ang paniniwala at prinsipyo.”  (If we see the need to fight, we should. If what we’re fighting is right, fight for it. It’s not being boastful, but its defending your belief and principles.)

Asked if studying prior to the debate helped her, Poe said it did, but stressed it was the process of consultations that she adopted that helped her more.

“Studying always helps. But, of course, you can’t study just the night before. It’s a series of review and it’s not just about reading books. It’s also about talking to local government (officials), asking them what they need; (and talking to) private citizens and asking them also how their lives can be improved,” she said.

Poe said that while they were given more time to speak compared to the first debate, she would have wanted they were given more time to talk about their platforms.

Had she been given a chance, Poe said she would have presented her platform on free college education for poor children and permanent jobs for Filipino workers. #
