Probe on brgy chief pushed

A COUNCILOR of Barangay Tabok in Mandaue City has filed a complaint against the barangay captain and three job order employees for allegedly using a government vehicle in installing campaign tarpaulins of Liberal Party (LP) candidates.

Councilor Windyln Alilin yesterday requested the Office of the Ombudsman in the Visayas to conduct an investigation against Tabok Barangay captain Dario Tariman and job order employees Thadeo Iwayan, April Perez, and Boboy Tundag.

Alilin said the respondent violated Commission on Audit Circular No. 75-6 and other related laws which prohibits the use of government vehicles other than for official businesses.

“As a concerned citizen, taxpayer, and a barangay councilor, I am no stranger to the proper guidelines of the use of government vehicles. Using the barangay vehicle to install political tarps of LP certainly does not fall under any of those authorized uses of government vehicles under existing laws and rules,” he said in his affidavit.

Alilin said the tarpaulins loaded on the government-owned multicab  were to promote the candidacy of Mandaue City mayoral aspirant Luigi Quisumbing and the reelection of Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III.

He said the incident happened last Feb. 27.
