A 30-year-old Korean national was supposed to leave for South Korea yesterday but packs of suspected shabu, which he voluntarily surrendered to airport officials, stoppped him from leaving.
Lee Kyungho was taken into custody by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7).
Before the discovery of the illegal drugs, Lee was seen crying by a security guard while walking from the Pagasa checkpoint towards the Mactan Cebu International Airport at dawn yesterday.
Jamelo Baring of GDS Security Agency approached Lee, who was dragging his trolley bag.
Baring asked Lee if he needed help but the Korean didn’t answer him.
Andres Barsagas, an airport policeman, then brought the Korean to the office of the Airport Police Department (APD).
In the office, the Korean opened his luggage containing five used syringes, four unused syringes and three sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu.
Barsagas said it seemed that the Korean was under the influence of illegal drugs during the incident.
Barsagas said they had a hard time getting the background of the Korean since his English was poor.
The Korean was later turned over to the PDEA-7 for possible filing of charges against him.
