More direct flights launched

EVA Air’s three-hour Cebu-Taipei flight, which was launched yesterday, will be serviced by Airbus 321-200s, which can carry up to 184 passengers.

The aircraft will depart Cebu at 11:05 a.m. daily, and arrive in Taipei at 2 p.m. on the same day. From Taipei, the aircraft will depart 7:10 a.m. daily, and arrive in Cebu at 10:05 a.m. on the same day.

EVA Air general manager Steven Wu said the newest route will connect Cebu to Taipei as well as to over 60 other international destinations through connecting flights.

“EVA Air is part of the Star Alliance, the biggest airline alliance in the world. Not only will it connect Cebu to Taipei, it will also connect Cebu to destinations in North America, Europe, Japan, Korea, mainland China and others,” he said.

Another direct link, the Cebu-Xiamen service, will be launched today.

This new service by Xiamen Air will also be thrice weekly — Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays — departing Cebu at 12:55 p.m. and arriving in Xiamen at 3:55 p.m. on the same day.

From Xiamen, flights will depart 9 a.m. and arrive in Cebu at 11:55 a.m. on the same day.

Philippine Airlines earlier launched the Cebu-Los Angeles link, which leaves Cebu on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

On March 30, Emirates Airline will introduce the Cebu-Dubai flight, which will be a daily circular service, stopping over at Clark before flying for Dubai. The carrier will depart Cebu at 5:25 p.m. and arrive at Clark 6:46 p.m. The connecting flight will leave Clark at 8 p.m. on the same day and arrive in Dubai at 2:25 a.m. the next day.
