SIX MORE teachers reported to the police that they also lost some valuables when the office of the Department of Education (DepEd) Mandaue City Division was burglarized last Saturday.
The initial report said P41,000 worth of valuables were stolen from the office in Barangay Centro.
After the incident, the teachers who were still on vacation were informed to check their valuables after the office had been burglarized.
It was last Monday afternoon when it was discovered that more valuables were missing.
All in all, P96,200 worth of valuables that included jewelry, electronic gadgets and cash owned by 11 teachers were missing, said PO1 Wilkin Enricoso.
As part of the investigation, Enricoso said the fingerprints of the 11 teachers who lost their valuables and the two security guards of the building had been taken.
Latent prints taken from the teachers’ tables and door knobs of the five offices that were burglarized are still being examined. They will be compared to the fingerprints of the teachers and two security guards, police said.
Division Superintendent Arden Monisit said they are still clueless as to who could be responsible for the burglary.
Monisit said they are not discounting the possibility of an inside job.
Monisit said the building had a 24-hour security guard on duty, but the theft was not detected as the burglar entered from the back.
