CEBUANO tennis standout John Clyde Largo is close to his dream of becoming the best tennis player in the country as he is set to side with the reigning University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) champions National University Bulldogs (NU) next year.
The former University of San Carlos product Largo, who hails from Naga City, Cebu, will be playing for the senior high school team of the Bulldogs.
“I’m hoping to continue the tradition since my father Jonathan and my mother Maristella are both tennis players,” Largo said.
With the move, Largo will be joining forces with multi-titled Cebuana doubles specialist Hanna Espinosa, who helped the Lady Bulldogs complete a rare grand slam earlier this year.
Despite the pressure surrounding him, the 16-year-old Largo sees the offer as an opportunity for him to grow and show his talent around the country.
“I’ve been joining multiple tournaments and I love to play in the national stage. It’s a huge opportunity for me to enhance my skills,” he said.
