SIXTEEN-year old Cebuana cyclist Ana Patricia “Ica” Maximo continues to make waves in the US after bagging a bronze medal in the tough Easter Sunday Grand Prix’s Women Juniors 15-18 category in Jurupa Valley, California USA.
Backed by YKK Bikes, Maximo found herself at the back portion of the peloton and watched as Sarah Swan of Alpine, Californa zoom ahead to break away from the rest of the pack and take the win. Moriah Swan came in second followed by the talented Cebuana.
“It was a race and a learning experience for me,” said Maximo who earlier won a gold medal in the Criterium event.
Meanwhile, Fi-Ams Christina Reynes and Cecily Laurito-Nelson, both from Cebu City, extended their support to Icamax by providing her with recovery foods to sustain her for the next races.
The five-time medalist of Philippine National Games (PNG) is set to compete next in the San Dimas SGlendora Mountain Roadtage Race in San Dimas, California. It is a multi-stage road race consisting of 4.25 mile climbing race up in the famous Glendora Mountain Road (GMR) used during the Tour of California.
