CHIEF Supt. Patrocinio Commendador officially takes over the Police Regional Office from outgoing Chief Supt. Manuel Gaerlan Monday morning.
In his speech Commendador opted not to make promises and did not introduce new programs for PRO-7.
“Crime is not easy task, you cannot promise to eradicate it. I will not be introducing (new) programs, there are a lot of programs advanced by PNP, what needed is execution,” the Cebuano police official said.
He said he plans to sustain the programs of his predecessors especially against drug trafficking and gun proliferation. Commendador said he only needs “police officers who have integrity and morals to refuse bribery.”
“Our policemen should not only be seen but also felt by the community that means they should be engaged,” Commendador said. He said he never thought he would return to Cebu again, three years after being reassigned elsewhere.
“This is my home,” he said. Police Director Dominador Aquino Jr., who came from Philippine National Police (PNP) Camp Crame, presided the turn-over ceremony.
Gaerlan will be transferred to PRO-11 in Davao City.
