San Francisco strafing incidents

Two men on a motorcycle strafed the houses of two supporters of San Francisco Mayor Aly Arquillano on Friday and Saturday in San Francisco, Camotes Islands in northern Cebu.

With elections barely a month away, PO3 Rongy Cidro, chief investigator of the town police, told Cebu Daily News by phone that these two strafing incidents might be politically motivated.

“Same empty shells were recovered from the two separate crime scenes. We are looking into the possibility that the same group of men did the attack,” said Cidro in Cebuano.

At both crime scenes, police recovered empty shells from an M16 rifle.

At past 3 a.m. on Friday, the attackers on a motorcycle strafed the house of Moises Wenceslao in Barangay South Poblacion. No one was hurt in the attack.

The next day, at 6 a.m., two men on a motorcycle also fired at the house of another Arquillano supporter, Reynaldo Maranga, 49, barangay captain of

Himensulan. Maranga’s wife and two daughters who were inside the house during the attack, were shaken but unhurt.

Cidro said they were investigating the incidents.
