NATIONAL University Bulldogs (NU)-bound John Clyde Largo survived a second set meltdown to hack out a 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 triumph over fellow Cebuano Francis Hidalgo and bag the 18-under boys’ trophy of the 10th annual Cebuana Lhuillier Age-Group Championships over the weekend in Maasin City, Southern Leyte.
Hidalgo had another chance of winning a crown but he faltered against University of Cebu’s Marc Nicole Suson, 4-6, 2-6 victory to secure the 16-under boys’ laurel.
Also putting up a solid performance for Cebu was Harland Hogan, who rebounded from his 3-6, 2-6 finals loss to Tyronne Ybañez in the 14-under boys’ division by smashing Ormoc City’s Nicolas Allain Ucat, 6-3, 7-5, in the 12-under play.
It was the first time in Cebuana Lhuillier’s rich tennis history that it organized an event in Maasin City.
