ONE of three bidders for the proposed Cancer Center of Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) was found eligible to undertake the project.
The New CC Barcelona Construction, a Manila-based company, was able to comply with all the required technical, legal and financial documents.
But the company still has to undergo a post-qualification review, said Antonio Roque Paradela, chairman of the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC), during the opening of bids yesterday.
The Cancer Center project, which will be the government’s first facility in the region, is estimated to cost P475.8 million.
New CC Barcelona offered P478.48 million.
Two other bidders failed to comply with some requirements and were given three days to file their motions for reconsideration for BAC to reassess their qualifications.
The Manila-based C.E Padilla Construction lacked an authorization letter from its representative while the Cebu-based Dakay Construction and Development Corp. lacked personnel to undertake the project.
The contract to build the center will be awarded after the May 9, 2016 elections because of the election ban.
