THERE may yet be some respite to this long dry spell.
Light to moderate rains were experienced yesterday in Toledo City and in the towns of Asturias and Balamban.
Alice Canasa, weather specialist for Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Mactan said that thunderstorm warnings were raised yesterday in the three areas.
“These were caused by localized convective lifting or water cycle,” Canasa said in a phone interview.
While there is still no available data of the amount of rain recorded yesterday, she said “there’s still a possibility that it will still rain in the coming days.”
But the scorching heat continues. The highest recorded temperature for this year was last Wednesday which was 34.9 degrees Celsius with a heat index of 41 degrees Celsius.
Canasa explained that air temperature may be lower but because of humidity and other factors, the heat index, or the heat that the body actually feels, is higher.
Yesterday, Pagasa Mactan recorded temperature at 34.2 degrees Celsius at 12:45 p.m. with a heat index of 41 degrees Celsius.
Pagasa forecast weather temperature today to range from 26 to 32 degrees Celsius. On April 16, weather temperature will range from 26 to 33 degrees Celius, April 17 at 26 to 34 degrees Celsius and on April 18, 26 to 37 degrees Celsius.
