Former Toledo City Mayor Arlene “Dydee” Zambo filed a complaint against Toledo City Mayor John Henry “Sonny” Osmeña for allegedly defacing her campaign posters.

In her letter to the Commission on Elections (Comelec), Zambo alleged that Osmeña printed 50,000 posters that either defaced or destroyed one of her posters.

She said one of her posters which bore the words “Vote Dydee Zambo For Councilor” were defaced with a red no sign bar on it and replaced with “Reyna sa Babag” (Queen of Obstacles) in red markings, which she described as “mean, libelous and malicious.”

“Osmeña was seen with several of my supporters waving my defaced posters during his campaigns and directing the posting thereof for the public to see,” Zambo said in her letter.

But Osmeña’s camp denied having anything to do with it.

The mayor’s lawyer Inocencio Dela Cerna said Osmeña did not order the printing of these materials.

Dela Cerna met with Osmeña yesterday afternoon in Toledo City to discuss this aside from the case they plan to file against an election officer over an incident last Thursday dawn.

Zambo asked the Comelec office and the Toledo City police to take down the posters and arrest those people seen posting them.

“Such illegal act of the mayor has not only damaged my reputation but has caused enraged and contempt feelings among my supporters requiring me to act,” she said.

Copies of the letter were furnished the office of Osmeña, Toledo City PNP, and the Toledo City Legal Office.

Osmeña’s camp said they will file a counter charge of libel and ask for damages against Zambo.
