A TRAFFIC enforcer was shot dead while a woman got wounded after being hit by a stray bullet in Consolacion town last Thursday evening.
Jolito Capangpangan, 30, of District 3, Barangay Pulpogan, Consolacion and a new member of the Consolacion Traffic Enforcement Services, was shot several times by two unidentified men at around 9 p.m.
Charity Belen, 23, also a resident of the place, was hit by a stray bullet.
Police revealed that the victim was walking on the road when waylaid by the assailants. Capangpangan died instantly.
Belen, who was buying from a store nearby, was hit in the right leg. Responding policemen recovered 4 empty shells of .45 pistol from the crime scene.
PO1 Raymond Lleve of Consolacion Police Station said the suspects remain unidentified and further investigation is still being conducted. Police also gathered information that the victim was allegedly involved in illegal drug activity.
Meanwhile, another shooting incident happened in Barangay Tugbungan, Consolacion around midnight on the same day.
Mylene Patigayon, 27, a drug suspect who was recently released from jail, was in serious condition after two riding-in-tandem men rained her with bullets while waiting for a ride along with her live-in partner, Lleve said.
According to Lleve, Patigayon was arrested by the Consolacion police through a buy-bust operation last Feb. 12. Two days after or on Feb. 14, she was able to escape but was recaptured on the same day in Mandaue City. Last month, she was released from jail after her case was dismissed.
