USJ-R girls spikers rout Leyte NHS, stay unbeaten in Shakey’s Tournament of Champions

The spikers of the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ–R) continued their dominant form in the 2014 Shakeys Girls Volleyball League Tournament of Champions as they dispatched of Leyte National High School in convincing fashion on Tuesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The Cebuanos shone from start to finish as they essayed a 25-9, 25-14 win over their Visayas rivals to gain the early lead in Pool B action.
In the first day of action, the Cebuanos defeated Ateneo de Davao. Therese Rae Ramas paced the winners with five kills, one block and one ace while Paula Marie Maninang and Rica Jane Rivera chipped in six and five hits, respectively
Not to be outdone, Central Philippines University (CPU) also went 2-0 (win-loss) in Pool A after beating Angeles University Foundation (AUF), 25-14, 25-19.
Roma Joy Doromal punched in 10 kills and one block as CPU still went strong in spite missing the services of power-hitter Princess Anne Robels, who suffered a sprained ankle during their 26-28, 25-17, 25-12 thumping of guest team Victoria, Australia last Monday.
CPU joined defending champion NCR at the top of Pool A. The Hope Christian-bannered NCR picked up its second win at the expense of Central Luzon, 25-18, 25-23, to sweep its busy Monday schedule.
