Canduman student bags Cabahug oratorical title

A student from Canduman National High School topped the first-ever Justice Sotero Cabahug oratorical contest in Mandaue City Hall last Friday.

The event was in line with the 125th birth anniversary of the great Son of Mandaue.

Nine students from the different high schools in Mandaue joined the contest, with Claire Giducos, a 15-year-old grade 9 student, emerging as the winner.

As of now, Giducos has not yet decided what profession she wants to pursue, but her aim is to become successful in her chosen field.

“Despite the fact that my daughter exceeded the time limit of 7 minutes, she delivered the piece well and it really surprised us, thank God,” her mother Annabelle said.

Annabelle added she was glad that her daughter learned to become independent as she was always busy with her job as a real estate broker.

Giducos has consistently been an  honor student since her elementary days.

Mary Ann Datoy, the mentor of Giducos, was also grateful that the Canduman student brought honor to the school.

Giducos received a  trophy and a medal for her effort.

The other contenders were Lorjelyn Zamora (2nd place), Haven Troy Auxillo (3rd place), Gladys Rosas, Lesly Mae Asenjo, Juvel Gungob, Alfred Efren Abellana, Reina Andrino and Joevanie Quiao. /Xavier University Intern Rey Anthony Anacleto
