WITH THE memory of a second-place finish still fresh in her mind, Ruffa Sorongon of Sultan Kudarat made sure she’d immediately bounce back as she topped the RC Goldline Half-Marathon yesterday.
Sorongon clocked one hour, 39 minutes and 48 seconds to rule the women’s race that ended at the Cebu Business Park.
Last Saturday, Sorongon finished just two seconds behind eventual winner Mereeis Ramirez in the Home Run II that also ended at the Cebu Business Park.
Sorongon was quick to exact revenge on Ramirez, who only managed to clock 1:43.13 to finish second. Keisha Mae Delechos was at far third with a time of 1:48.50.
In the men’s 21k race, Noel Tillor. the 42k champion of the Cebu City Marathon last January, clocked 1:15.25 to defeat Prince Joey Lee (1:16.56) and Rafael Pescos (1:21.13), who finished second and third, respectively.
Winners in the 21k foreign race were Abraham Kilimo (1:13.15) and May Cherylle Wuttke (2:28.51).
Paul James Zafico (43:14) and Jeneda Arcino (53:15) were the winners in the 12k race. In the 6k race, Arnel Florentino clocked 20:46 and Jenecil Saballa finished in 25:45 to win the men and women’s titles, respectively. Erich Chipsiror (19:17 ) and Jia-Jhen Lin (42:18) were the winners in the 6k foreign category. The 3k winners were Ronilo Gabilan (10:41) and Catherine Yu (13:34)./REPORTER GLENDALE G. ROSAL
