Cesar Salimbangon scored victories in two categories in the 21st edition of the JRG Gullas Cup held at the Consolacion Tennis Club in Barangay Laray, Consolacion town on Thursday.
Salimbangon beat Mark Tapic, 6-0, 6-1, in the boys’ 12-Under. He will next face Joseph Geverola.
Salimbangon also won in the boys’ 14-under as he trounced Jag Garcia, 6-1, 6-3. He will square off with Eduardito Pasaol next.
In other matches, Zethey Mae Alferez, a Batang Pinoy gold medalist, escaped Pinkloyo Manabat, 6-1,6-1, in the girls’ 16-Under while Lyra Mae Repollo surged to a 6-0, 6-3 victory against Regina Igoy in the 14-under. Lapu-Lapu City native Tiffany Claire Nocos also escaped Hanah Tapic, 6-4, 5-7, 10-8.
The single-elimination tournament will continue until Sunday.
