THE Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) will open its new emergency room (ER) tomorrow.
In a press conference yesterday, hospital administrator Rey Cris Panugaling said the new ER is air-conditioned and has cubicles with curtain track system.
The outpatient department will open on May 2 and will operate from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m on Mondays to Fridays. There will be no downpayment upon admission, professional fees, nor hidden charges, Panugaling assured.
The intensive care unit (ICU) will have four new rooms, seven cardiac monitors and advanced life support equipment.
“When DOH (Department of Health) checked our facility, they were so amazed because CCMC got seven cardiac monitors. Lisod kaayo na siya i-procure sa ubang hospitals because it’s expensive (Other hospitals find these difficult to get),” he said.
The new CCMC will also have a “one-stop shop street,” where the social service, billing and claims, and cashier are located.
CCMC’s biological utility operating room is also set to open this year, a first inside a government facility in the city.
Panugaling said the medical and surgical wards will also be air-conditioned starting this July.
To ensure safety, eight closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed around the hospital. There will be a separate entrance for hospital employees and another entrance for patients, which is scheduled to open this May.
“We want you to feel that you are not in a hospital scenario. We have CCMC plotted like a village. It’s a community,” said Panugaling.
