Bar exam results out today

THE results of the 2015 Bar examinations will be released by the Supreme Court (SC) today.

Some 6,600 aspiring lawyers completed the exams held in all Sundays of November at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila.

Lawyer Joan Largo, dean of the University of San Carlos’ College of Law, was hopeful that all their examinees would pass.

“We’re hoping to consistently maintain our high passing percentage rate,” she told Cebu Daily News.

USC, one of the top performing schools in the field of law, has so far produced 18 Bar topnotchers.

In the 2014 Bar exams, a total of 1,126 out of 5,984 examinees passed, or a passing rate of 18.82 percent.

Michelle Liao of the University of Cebu (UC) placed fifth with a passing rate of 84.5 percent, or just one percentage point behind the highest score of 85.5 percent.

The Bar, the only licensure exam that is not administered by the Professional Regulations Commission, covers eight subjects: political law, labor law, civil law, taxation, mercantile law, criminal law, remedial law, and legal and judicial ethics.
