THE Mandaue City Police Office called on supporters of both Rep. Luigi Quisumbing of Cebu’s sixth district and Councilor Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon not to provoke confrontations with each other during campaign sorties.
Senior Supt. Jonathan Cabal, acting Mandaue City police chief, said a report he received from the Opao police precinct showed that a supporter of Dizon played to full volume her campaign jingle during Quisumbing’s campaign sortie.
He said the supporter’s multicab was parked close to the area where the congressman held his rally in Villa Mangga, Barangay Opao. A loudspeaker was installed in the multicab which played Dizon’s jingle during the rally.
Quisumbing, who’s running under the Liberal Party (LP) Cebu chapter, and Dizon are vying for Mandaue Cit’s mayoral seat. Cabal said some of Quisumbing’s supporters approached the parked vehicle and saw it was empty.
“I have it investigated. Kasi nalaman naming iniwan ng driver yung sasakyan (Because we learned that the driver left the vehicle) purposely to disrupt the rally,” Cabal said.
Sought for comments, Dizon said she doesn’t want to dignify the incident which she considered petty.
Quisumbing said he was thankful for the restraint showed by his supporters toward what he considered as “bully tactics” of the Dizon camp.
