The past president of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) was among 250 supporters of Liberal Party presidential and vice presidential candidates Manuel “Mar” Roxas II and Leni Robredo (RoRo) who attended yesterday’s Mass for the LP candidates at the Archdiocesan Shrine of St. Therese of the Child Jesus in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City yesterday.
Teresa “Tess” Chan, past CCCI president, said she is not part of any organization for the tandem, but she still supports them.
Chan was referring to the organizers of the Mass, the Cebu Volunteers for Roxas and Robredo Silent No More Movement.
“His (Roxas) contribution to this country has been on a national scale. I’m here because I want this to continue. I don’t want reckless change,” Chan said.
Others who attended the mass were Dr. Mila Tolentino, core member of the Cebu Volunteers for Roxas and Robredo Silent No More; businesswoman Amparito Lhuillier; Annie Aboitiz; Teresin Mendezona; and Marissa Fernan.
“Today’s gathering is not a political activity, but it is a gathering of people, men and women, who believe in the Lord, who believe in the power of Jesus,” said Msgr. Roberto F. Alesna, who celebrated the Mass.
Alesna invited the participants to join the Mass and penitential walk at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral at 5 p.m. today to pray for a credible, honest, clean and peaceful elections.
