Three men, woman nabbed on drug, firearms possession

Three men and a woman three months pregnant were arrested in San Fernando town, southern Cebu at 2:30a.m. on Monday on charges of illegal possession of firearms and drugs.

Chief Insp. Richard Gadingan of the San Fernando Police said Mark Genterone, Leonard Joseph Alicaway, Leecille Vergara, and Joan Blanco were caught while on board a multicab at a checkpoint.

Genterone is the live-in partner of Blanco who drove the multicab at the time of arrest while Alicaway and Vergara rode at the back of the vehicle.

“Walay information nga armed sila. Unusual lang ang ilang lihok (No information that they were armed. Their activities were unusual,” Gadingan said. The suspects were asked to open their bags for inspection.

Recovered from them were one Ingram machine gun with a silencer, one .45 pistol and one 9mm pistol, assorted drug paraphernalia, one digital weighing scale, two lighters, and a bag containing P20,440 cash that Gadingan said they suspect to be profit from a drug deal.

But Blanco denied they have anything to do with it.  She said they were on their way to Cebu City from their hometown in Barili when they allowed Alicaway and Vergara to get on board their vehicle.

“Amoa lang gipa-hitch kay nakaila man mi nga taga-Barili. Wa mi magtuo nga maangin mi nila (We allowed them to hitch because we know them, that they are from Barili town. We didn’t believe that they can do this to us),” she said.

Charges will be filed against them tomorrow.
