THE regional Commission on Elections (Comelec-7) confirmed that more than 50 percent of voters in Barangay Gabi, Cordova have voted yesterday.
Yesterday morning, 722 voters in the Barangay Gabi were unable to vote due to the lack of official ballots for their barangay.
As of 10 a.m. today, Regional Comelec Director Jose Nick Mendros said more than 400 voters out of 722 have cast their votes.
He said the voters in barangay Gabi were spread to nearby barangays in Cordova with available ballots for them to vote.
Mendros said all 722 voters were informed of this initiative, so those who have not voted yesterday acted on their own discretion. For the remaining voters, he said it is unsure if they can still vote.
The regional Comelec office has yet to receive word from their central office. Mendros said the remaining voters in Barangay Gabi cannot affect the proclamation of elected officials because there was no failure of elections.
“Failure of elections is only declared when no one was able to vote,” he said.
