The University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors and the Don Bosco Technical College Inc. Greywolves barged into the semifinals by the skin of their teeth as they essayed close victories during the last day of eliminations in the CloudFone Batang PBA Cebu leg yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Institute.
USC eked past the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F) Baby Panthers, 81-79, while Don Bosco edged Abellana National School, 74-71.
The two victors finished the round-robin elimination phase with identical 3-2 (win-loss) records and head to the semifinals along with the top-seed, University of the Visayas (UV) and the lowest seed, Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu.
UV won its fifth game in as many games with a 65-47 thrashing of Ateneo de Cebu. The Magis Eagles dropped their third game in a row after opening the competition with two straight wins.
The Final Four of this competition will see UV and Ateneo de Cebu face off and USC and Don Bosco tangle in the other semis match-up.
Genald Inigo led USC with 25 points while Steven Mendoza chipped in 17.
USPF got 25 from Christopher Isabelo while Winston Ynot got 16.
Christian Boyboy continued to shine for Don Bosco as he scored eight of the team’s last 10 points to carry the Greywolves to the win.
