Vice President Jejomar Binay made it clear that he has not yet conceded to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

In a media interview on Wednesday afternoon in Mandaue City, Binay said he would wait until the canvassing is over.

“In so far as the election is concerned, we will wait for the completion of the electoral process,” he said.

Binay said there were “a lot of things that needed to be questioned.”

Among them, he said, were the glitches with the vote-counting machines (VCMs) which produced results that he considered unbelievable.

“Yung mga VCMs na iba ang iniluwa. Mga VCMs na maraming nasira. Mga resulta na hindi kapani-paniwala (There are VCMs that produced different results in the receipts. There are a lot of VCMs that bogged down. The results are not really credible),” he said.

He said he could not believe the results in Cebu.

“Biro mo, 69,000 pero lagi kang maraming kasama. Mga nakamayan ko na, mga 100,000 (You know, it’s 69,000 but we had many people who joined the sorties. I shook hands with about 100,000),” he added.

As of last Tuesday’s canvassing at the Cebu Provincial Capitol, Binay got 69,648 votes.

He placed fourth among the five presidential candidates next to Sen. Grace Poe, who got 187,828 votes.

Liberal Party (LP) candidate Mar Roxas came in second with 443,661 votes and on the top spot is Mayor Duterte with 738,487 votes.

Asked if he will file an election protest, Binay said “everything is possible in this world.”

Binay was in Mandaue City on Wednesday to visit the wake of former Danao, Bohol Mayor Louis Thomas Gonzaga at the Cebu Rolling Hills Memorial Chapels along A.S. Fortuna, Brgy. Banilad.
